Published: 4 June 2013
Last November, Canterbury Oast Trust launched a photography competition looking for the photo that best captured the Rare Breeds Centre and its many animals.
Local photographers, Greg Allen and Jon Green judged alongside Gill Gibb, CEO of the Trust and Sarah Kirk, the Trust’s resident tweeter and regular photo-taker. Greg summed up the judging process ‘ we each shortlisted 10 photos and whittled it down from there- it was a daunting task with so many amazing photos, but in the end we were unanimous when picking our winner’.
Susan Sanger, a regular visitor to the Rare Breeds Centre won the competition taking the first prize of £100 and an annual pass for four people with her amusing picture of Simon the Alpaca. Greg adds ‘ this photo showed real personality and warmth and made everyone smile when they saw it- a worthy winner!’.
Joint second prizes went to Elsie Wibble for ‘Piglet in Straw’ and Aime Squire for ‘Chameleon’. They each received £50 and an annual pass for four people.
