Dogged determination saves the day, and raises over £1,000 for COT!

Despite the weather being against us, over 100 Dogs and their Owners came to take part in our annual Fun Dog Show. After a delayed the start due to the torrential rain, the first class judged was ‘Best Puppy’ and was won by a beautiful Rough Collie called Jester (pictured) and his owner, regular dog show attendee, Sue Collino.

In all, there were 20 classes - ranging from ‘Junior Handler’ (which was won by 8 year old Blake with Gemma the English Pointer) to ‘Best Mover’ (won by Timber and Sue Collino) and ‘Waggiest Tail’ which provided much entertainment, and was won by Scarlett the King Charles Spaniel and her owner Chris.

The Dogs’ favourite class was of course ‘Fastest Sausage Eater’ with lots of entrants, but typically was won by Addy the Chocolate Labrador who ‘woofed’ them down in just 2.3 seconds, much to the amusement of owner Sarah!

The last class of the day was to crown the ‘Overall Champion’ and ‘Reserve Champion’ from all the dogs who were placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the other classes. This year’s winner was a stunning Leonberger called Boris, much to the delight of his owner Joan. The ‘Reserve Champion’ prize went to Henry the very handsome Weimaraner X Hungarian Vizsla.

As well as their Rosette, Boris and Joan received A Year’s Complete Vet Care Package courtesy of our Overall Sponsor Companion Care Vets of Ashford, which includes a veterinary health check, flea treatment and vaccination – what an amazing prize!

Folkestone Shooting Stars Flyball Team then gave us a brilliant introduction to Flyball – a fast-paced and exciting Doggy team activity. Not heard of Flyball before? It’s basically a Doggy Hurdle Relay, testing the Dogs’ skill, speed and agility. For more information you can visit: shootingstarsflyballteam.webs.com

Many thanks to all those who took part, we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did! We were thrilled to raise over £1,000, which will go to our fantastic parent charity COT, helping to support people with Learning Disabilities throughout Kent. You can find out more about us at cot.org.uk
