The Legendary Route! Day 1
Published: 10 June 2013
Well, we made the 105 miles in remarkably good time. Leaving at 7.30 in a cold, windy john O'Groats we battled a head wind and steep hills for 40 miles but then turned inland and headed south in stunning countryside and quiet lanes.
By the way, top holiday tip. Avoid John O'Groats; it’s a god awful place to put it nicely!
Stats show we made 4,925 ft of ascent, ave speed 14.43mph and cycling time (excl breaks) 7 hours 15 mins. Apparently tomorrow is harder, heading past Loch Ness to Fort William. Ache a bit but not too bad (yet).
Also, highlight of the day was our first fall; James after only 8 miles! He enjoyed it so much he did it again 30 miles later. No damage done though.
Thanks all
