Toby the Shire-Horse brings record crowds this Easter!!
Published: 23 April 2014
Forget all the cute lambs, racing pigs and fluffy chicks the team at the Rare Breeds are putting their record breaking Easter crowds down to their handsome Shire-Horse, Toby and his diva-like antics.
The Easter holidays saw all recent records broken with over 10,000 visitors coming to see us and having a great day out. Toby’s outrageous behaviour had many visitors in fits of giggles as he waggled his rather large rump through his stable door for those he liked the look of to scratch his bottom! Toby was determined to woo the crowds with his antics and take the attention away from the bottle-fed lambs and Luna, our Jersey cow’s calf born just before Easter – and he succeeded!
Gill Gibb, CEO of Canterbury Oast Trust which owns and operates the Rare Breeds Centre said ‘This is a great start to the season and record visitor numbers will help our charity to continue to improve the Rare Breeds and to develop more, much needed, supported living homes in Kent for the adults we help and support with a learning disability. Thanks to everyone who visits us- it really makes a difference to other people’s lives and you can have fun at the same time’.
Newborn animals continue to be born at the Rare Breeds, trying to usurp Toby’s star attraction crown – what will Toby do next to win your attention when you visit us?
