Your home with us
Your home with us will support you to live your best life. We aim to ensure you have choice in how you wish to live your life and be empowered to live with confidence and independence.
Our dedicated and friendly residential care team is there to provide you with tailored support on a 24 hour basis. You will have you own personalised plan so we fully understand how to support your needs and choices. Some of our residential homes are adapted to meet specific needs so we can support people in the right way in comfort and with dignity. Most people living with COT do so on a long-term basis. So we tend to develop a deep understanding of individual needs. We pride ourselves on having caring and empathic staff who continually use their knowledge and creativity to ensure the people they serve are supported in maintaining their independence – especially as people age or physical conditions progress. We place huge importance on staff skills training for continued learning and development.
You will be encouraged and supported to take an active role in the daily running of your home such as: planning and preparing daily meals, shopping, choosing how you would like to decorate your private room and helping to schedule activities and organise social events (on arrival at one of our homes you might find a gentle one to one sensory activity in session - but just as likely to find a loud bhangra dance lesson in full flow!). We will support you to explore your own interests and leisure activities. All of our residential homes have their own transport available to help you access your local community.
Our residential care homes are registered with and run to meet the standards as set out by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which regulates care provision in England.
To be considered for a place at Canterbury Oast Trust, a free care needs assessment must be completed. Kent County Council provides everything you need to know about the care needs assessment process on their website.
